Reflad is the name of the project associated with the idea that gave birth to RFLAD in the fall of 2021. This project began with a desire to address the problem of food waste potentially occurring in food retailers such as supermarkets as a result of pricing practices in which, for a given product, packages with closer expiration dates are priced the same as packages that have just been placed on the shelf, unless manually adjusted. A proposal I developed in response is available here.
[April 2023-February 2024] I had the opportunity to learn, through resources such as ReFED’s Insights Engine, about solution providers outside Japan that address the above problem. I subsequently came to a conviction that developing an alternative solution from scratch would be an attempt to reinvent the wheel and decided to pivot from in-house tech-driven product development to an intermediary role.
I am currently developing a business plan to promote the adoption of existing dynamic-pricing solutions by serving as a distributor for one or more of the providers of such solutions that currently do not have an established presence in Japan.
